Chuyện kể trước giờ đi ngủ

 

Đó là thời gian tớ luôn nài ba mẹ kể những câu chuyện nhỏ mỗi đêm trước khi ngủ; đầu tiên là mẹ và sau đó là ba.

 

Mẹ tớ từng nói:

 

- Nào, Igor ơi, anh nên kể chuyện cho con trước đi. Anh kể những câu chuyện ấy lôi cuốn hơn, anh cũng sáng tạo nó hay hơn em, những câu chuyện dài dễ đưa vào một giấc ngủ thật ngon. Nghe chuyện anh kể, em thường ngủ trước cả Johnnies đấy.

 

Mẹ nghĩ tớ sẽ buồn ngủ sau khi nghe những câu chuyện của ba, và mẹ hầu như chẳng bao giờ phải bịa ra một câu chuyện nào để kể cả. Nhưng hơn một lần mẹ đã nhầm: những câu chuyện ba kể chẳng làm tớ buồn ngủ chút nào. Ngược lại, nó khiến tớ tỉnh rất lâu trong đêm nữa.

 

Giờ đây tớ mới hiểu rằng đó là một nhiệm vụ lớn lao với họ; lớn lao mà đồng thời cũng là một điều gì đó thật thân thương.

 

Chúng tớ là một gia đình, có ba thành viên, bên nhau, chẳng thể tách rời…

 

Khi ba chẳng thể sáng tác thêm một câu chuyện mới nào trước giờ đi ngủ nữa, một số câu chuyện phải lặp lại nhiều lần. Tuy vậy tớ chỉ nhớ một câu chuyện mẹ đã kể và một câu chuyện của ba.

 

Câu chuyện của ba hơi kỳ lạ: chuyện kể về một con thỏ lạ có cái tai màu xanh lá dài thật dài và chân trước của nó có màu da cam, nó to lớn như một con bê nhỏ thuần chủng hai năm.

 

 

 

 

BEDTIME STORIES

 

It was during those times when I wanted my parents to tell me bedtime stories every night before I fall asleep; first my mum and then my dad.

 

My mother used to say:

 

- Come on, Igor, you should tell him a bedtime story first. You are better at telling those stories, much better in inventing them, and they are longer and sleep-inducing. When I listen to them, I often fall asleep before Johnnies.

 

Mum thought I would fall asleep while my dad was telling me stories, and that she did not have to invent anything at least for once. However, she was wrong more than once: The stories that my dad was telling me were not putting me asleep. On the contrary, I would stay awake long into the night.

 

Now I know it was a big obligation for both of them; big but at the same time a very dear one.

 

We were a family, the three of us, together, inseparable...

 

Since my parents could not invent a new bedtime story every night, some stories were repeated several times. However, I’ve remembered one story my mom had told me and one of my dad’s. 

 

Dad's story was unusual: it was about a strange rabbit with long, long green ears and orange front paws, and he was big as a pure race, two-year runt.

 

 

 

 

Con thỏ có chiếc tai xanh lá

 

Ngày xưa có một con thỏ, dáng hình kỳ lạ với cái tai dài thật dài màu xanh như cỏ, như lá non của cây tần bì vào mùa xuân.

 

Ngoài ra, không phải lúc nào nó cũng giữ cho đôi tai của mình thẳng đứng, vểnh lên. Nó thường dùng tai che đầu như cái lá khổng lồ của cây súng nước. Thỏ ta làm vậy để nó không nghe thấy tiếng súng của những gã thợ săn ở cánh đồng và bãi cỏ bắn gà gô. Nó lén lút trốn trong một lùm cây và sẽ không bước ra tới khi tiếng súng của những tay săn im bặt.

 

Nhưng khi có đám cưới hay lễ kỷ niệm trong làng và âm nhạc vang lên khắp nơi, con thỏ có chiếc tai xanh lá sẽ vểnh hai tai lên lắng nghe nhạc và những ca khúc. Hai chân sau của nó nhún nhảy theo điệu nhạc và hai chân trước gõ vào một cái thùng rỗng như người chơi trống. Nó nhiệt tình tham gia vào buổi lễ vì mọi thứ xung quanh nó thật là vui, và đôi tai nó vểnh lên như những sợi râu.

 

Con thỏ tai xanh lá có hai chân trước màu da cam, nó thường dùng chúng để rửa mặt và vỗ tay, thậm chí còn dùng ngón trỏ để đe dọa sói và cáo nữa. Động vật trong rừng đều sợ con thỏ cao lớn và mạnh mẽ như một người chỉ huy. Nếu chúng nhìn thấy thỏ ta từ xa, chúng sẽ tránh đi đường đó để thoát khỏi thỏ từ xa. Thật tuyệt!

 

Cũng có khi thỏ rủ hai tai xanh lá to như bông súng nước để che đầu vào trường hợp: buổi tối khi nó ngủ trong bụi cây ấm áp của mình. Nó rủ tai che đầu, và dần chìm vào một giấc mơ tuyệt đẹp.

A RABBIT WITH GREAN EARS

 

Once there was a rabbit, unusual in every respect, with long, long ears, green as grass, green as leaves of young ash-woods in spring.

 

Moreover, he didn’t always keep his ears upright, pricked up. Very often, he used them to cover his head as with large leafs of water lilies. The rabbit did that so he would not hear the hunters in the field and meadow who were shooting partridges and grouses. He would huddle and hid in a grove and would not come out until the shootings of capricious hunters stopped.  

 

However, when there was a wedding or celebration in the village and music could be heard all around, the rabbit with green ears would lift up his two long ears and listen to music and songs. He would also hop on his hind legs in the rhythm of the music that could be heard, and would hit an empty bucket with his front paws as in he was playing drums. He took part in celebration because everything around him was happy, and his ears were pointing upwards, like antennae.

 

The rabbit with green ears had orange front paws and he used them to wash his face and clap, and even to use one of them, the index finger, to threaten a wolf or a fox. The animals in the forest were really afraid of the rabbit that was tall and strong as a steer. If they had noticed him from afar, they would get out of his way or bypass him from afar. Really awesome!

 

There would be another moment when rabbit would cover his head with his green ears as with large water lilies: in the evening when he was about to fall sleep in his cozy grove. He would cover his head, and sink into a pleasant dream.

Tiểu sử Nhà thơ Dusan Djurisic

 

Dusan Djurisic sinh năm 1932 ở Gradinje gần Caribrod, hiện tại ông sống ở Dimitrovgrad, Serbia. Ông là chủ tịch Hội nhà văn Montenegro cho Thiếu nhi và Thanh thiếu niên, Hội dịch văn học Montenegro và Hội làm thơ haiku Montenegro; ông là thành viên của trung tâm PEN Montenegro, Viện văn hóa Montenegro, nhóm Văn đoàn độc lập Montenegro và một cộng tác viên của Viện hàn lâm khoa học và nghệ thuật Duklja. Ông là Tổng biên tập của Tạp chí “Nụ cười”, một ấn phẩm dành cho thiếu nhi, và tờ báo “Điểm gặp mới”, bản tin về Hội dịch giả văn học ở Montenegro. Ông là người khởi xướng bốn trào lưu văn học cho thiếu nhi và thanh thiếu niên, là nhà thơ, người kể chuyện, tiểu thuyết gia, nhà biên kịch, dịch giả và hiệu đính các tác phẩm tiếng nước ngoài, nhà phê bình văn học, nghệ sỹ trào phúng, nhà thơ haiku, nhà tuyển tập và xuất bản. Dusan Djurisic đã nhận 16 giải thưởng quốc gia và quốc tế cùng một số giải nước ngoài cho thơ haiku và tanka. Ông xuất bản sách cho thiếu nhi: 23 tập thơ, 4 tập thơ và truyện ngắn, 3 tập truyện ngắn, truyện cổ tích và truyện ngụ ngôn, hai tập sách tranh, hai tiểu thuyết và hai tuyển tập của các nhà văn Montenegro cho thiếu nhi. Ngoài ra, ông còn xuất bản 6 cuốn sách tuyển lựa những ca khúc và truyện, 22 tập thơ, haiku, tanka, thơ châm, truyện hài, thơ tình… cho người lớn. Các tuyển tập của ông được xuất bản trong các thứ tiếng khác nhau: Macedona, Nga, Anbani, Tiếng Pháp, Rutena, Armenia, Slovenia, Udmurt, Tatar, Mông Cổ, Lithuanian, Turkmen, Kalmyk, Bungari, Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ, Belorussian và Moldova. Hiện ông sống tại Curilac gần Danilovgrad và Podgorica (Montenegro).

 

 

 

 

About the Poet Dusan Djurisic

 

Dusan Djurisic was born on 1932 in Gradinje near Caribrod, currently Dimitrovgrad, in Serbia. He is the President of the Association of the Montenegrin Writers for Children and Youth, the Association of Literary Translators in Montenegro and the Association of Montenegrin haijin; he is a member of the Montenegrin PEN center, the Montenegrin Cultural Institution, the Montenegrin Association of Independent Writers and an associate member of the Duklja Academy of Sciences and Arts. He was the chief editor of "Smile," the literary magazine for children, and the "New Encounters" newspaper, the newsletter of the Association of Literary Translators of Montenegro. He is the initiator of four literary manifestations for children and young people, poet, storyteller, novelist, playwright, literary translator and adaptor of works in foreign languages, literary critic, satirist, aphoritist, haijin, anthologist and publisher. For his literary creation and translations, Dusan Djurisic has received 16 national and international awards and several foreign awards for haiku and tanka. He published works for children, in one or more editions: twenty three collections of poetry, four collections of poetry and stories, three collections of short stories, fairy tales and fables, two picture books, a poem, two novels and two anthologies of the stories of Montenegrin writers for children. Furthermore, along with other authors, he published six books of selected songs and stories, twenty two books of poetry, haiku, tanka, haibun, aphorisms, epigrams, satirical poems, anecdotes, humorous stories and erotic poetry for adults. Twenty seven of his books and two anthologies were published in foreign languages: six in Macedonian, four in Russian, three in Albanian, two in English and one in French, Ruthenian, Armenian, Slovenian, Udmurt, Tatar, Mongol, Lithuanian, Turkmen, Kalmyk, Bulgarian, Turkish, Belorussian and Moldovan language. He has published forty three books of translations and adaptations, and twenty seven with other translators. His adaptations were published in five collections of works and anthologies of other authors and could also be found in many workbooks and manuals. He lives in Curilac near Danilovgrad and Podgorica (Montenegro).

Dịch giả - nhà thơ Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh, sinh năm 1991, hiện sống và sáng tác tại TP. Hải Phòng. Cử nhân kinh tế - Đại học Kinh tế quốc dân Hà Nội. Cô từng đoạt Giải lục bát trăng Vàng (giải cao nhất) năm 2016 trong Cuộc thi thơ Lục Bát "Tổ quốc và Đạo pháp" do Báo Người Cao tuổi phối hợp với Website lucbat.com tổ chức, dưới sự bảo trợ của Trung ương Mặt trận Tổ quốc Việt Nam và Trung ương Giáo hội Phật giáo Việt Nam; Đoạt giải nhì cuộc thi Thơ 2015 - 2016 của tạp chí Văn nghệ Quân đội. Tập truyện "Búp bê song sinh tới trái đất" (Nxb. Hội Nhà văn, 2016) của nhà văn Milutin Đuričković, Serbia là dịch phẩm đầu tay của chị. Biography of translator - poet Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh

 

The translator of this book is poet Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh, who was born in 1991 and is living and writing in Hải Phòng city at present. She was an Economic Bachelor in Hanoi National Economic University. She was awarded “The Gold Moon of Alexandrine” (highest prize) by The Elder Newspaper and Website lucbat.com co-organizer, under the auspices of Vietnamese Fatherland Front Central Committee and Vietnamese Buddisht Church. Following that, she received the second prize in poetry contest of “Văn nghệ quân đội” literary magazine for the years 2015-2016. The children's book “The twin dolls to the earth” (Publishing House of The Vietnam Writer’s Association, 2016) of writer Milutin Đuričković, Serbia is her first translation book. Nguyễn Thị Thùy Linh translated many foreign poetry from English into Vietnamese and published them in many domestic newspapers and magazines, including the poems of many poets such as: Raymond Keen (America), Lars Vargö (Sweden), Rati Saxena (India), Metin Cengiz và Müesser Yeniay (Turkey), Fethi Sassi (Tunisia), Asror Allayarov và Makhfuza Imamova (Uzbekistan), Dimitris P. Kraniotis (Greek)… In addition, she translated some short stories of both female American writers Kate Chopin and Louisa May Alcott under the name Linh Đan.
